||Due to Hurricane Henri, there may be extra water well above the planned release level. If it’s at or above 4000 cfs a solid roll is mandatory as is self rescue skills. More likely we’ll see something above the planned release so those with good 2+ skills should have a great time…like a Mongaup River double barrel release but way bigger waves and way more high volume flat water between the holes.
If the release is close to 4000 cfs or higher on Saturday we will paddle from Rockport to Glen Onoko. This is the more challenging, longer section of the Lehigh and more so at what will be double the normal release volume of 1700 cfs.
Participants should arrive with all whitewater gear, the big 5 and be comfortable running class 2+ whitewater, with a solid roll. We have group camping reserved at Hickory Run State Park Friday and Saturday nights. Sunday: normal release level of 800 CFS expected We will probably paddle from Whitehaven to Rockport. (Sunday is the easier day for newer paddlers).
